St. Vincent
Austin City Limits once again gives a forum to up-and-coming talent. St. Vincent, AKA Annie Clark to her mom, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Dallas. As a teenager, she acted as tour manager for her uncle Tuck Andress’s duo Tuck & Patti. After graduating high school in 2001, the multi-instrumentalist/songwriter attended the Berklee College of Music, but dropped out to join Dallas’ famed quirk pop ensemble the Polyphonic Spree. She transitioned to Sufjan Stevens’ touring band, self-releasing a pair of EPs along the way. Signing to international independent label Beggars Banquet, Clark presented her full-length debut Marry Me in 2007 and took her carefully crafted indie pop to the stage. After her time on the road, she hit the studio to create her latest album Actor, which she supports with her ACL debut.
