Crowded House repeat

Crowded House.jpgI just wanted to encourage everyone to watch the Crowded House repeat on Saturday night. (Check your local listings or with your local station for airdates.) It’s one of my personal favorites and one of our very best shows. Neil Finn deserves every accolade ever laid upon him. It’s a wonderful show. Catch it if you can.

I just watched the Crowded House performance for the first time. Let me preface my remarks by saying that I am a filmmaker. In my opinion, this was the most perfectly photographed and edited show I have seen in the series. The framing, the appropriate use of movement, the angles, the choices of where, when and how to cut. I felt that this work was flawlessly conceived and executed. It made a beautiful performance that much better.
I am so frequently annoyed and disappointed by the look and feel of live performance, with the cinematographer and editor getting in the way of the performance. All I ask is that they don’t detract, that they at least avoid interfering with the viewer’s experience.
Well these guys really enhanced the performance. I don’t know who they are, but if anyone who sees this knows them, please pass my compliments on. Again, this was an exquisitely photographed and edited show. Gentlemen (or ladies), your artistry has not gone unnoticed. Thanks for a profoundly enjoyable experience. It’s a pleasure to watch the good ones work.

That would be director Gary Menotti, technical director Ed Fuentes, editor Dan Martaus and, of course, our hardworking camera crew. Thanks for the kind words.

I’ll second Gino’s comments, having also worked many years doing live broadcast sound and TV. Bravo!
Any chance of a DVD of the show in the future (rights permitting)?
