The Avett Brothers
ACL is once again proud to welcome up-and-coming talent by opening the 6A doors to the Avett Brothers. Of course, to the group’s fans, the Avetts are hardly a new act. The North Carolina siblings and their bassist buddy convened in 2000 as an acoustic side project for the brothers’ rock band Nemo; when the latter broke up, the Avetts decided to keep their bluegrass/folk/punk/pop ensemble going. Over the next near-decade the group produced seven studio albums, two live albums and a couple of EPs, toured the country numerous times, opened shows and tours for Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, Wilco and My Morning Jacket and played MerleFest. Superproducer Rick Rubin has since signed them to his Columbia-distributed American Recordings; the resulting major label debut I and Love and You reached #16 on the Billboard 200 and garnered the band appearances on both David Letterman’s and Craig Ferguson’s late night shows. Now, following a packed and acclaimed set at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Avett Brothers come to the 6A stage for their debut Austin City Limits.
